Morgan Carlo Downs & Everton, P.A. is a law firm of trial lawyers and counselors with extensive experience in civil litigation, insurance coverage, workers’ compensation and health care law.

The firm’s four shareholders, all of whom are AV® rated by Martindale-Hubbell, have practiced together for nearly twenty years, and each of the attorneys in the firm share complementary experience and practice abilities with the others. Robert Morgan, Mary Alane Downs and Angus Everton, for example, have combined experience in the defense of health care malpractice and licensure cases that exceeds seventy-five years. Mr. Morgan, admitted to the Bars of Maryland, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia, in addition to his extensive medical malpractice defense experience, is General Counsel to a large and growing general hospital in the Baltimore metropolitan area. Mr. Carlo, a member of the Bars of Maryland, the District of Columbia and Connecticut, concentrates his practice in civil litigation and workers compensation defense, with nearly thirty years experience. He represents and advises a number of large self-insured businesses and health care institutions as well as insurers. Ms. Downs, admitted in Maryland, is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers with extensive experience in personal injury litigation. She has an impressive record of successfully defending health care providers in complex medical malpractice cases. Mr. Everton, admitted in Maryland, is a former General Counsel to Med Chi, the Maryland State Medical Society, and concentrates his practice in the areas of health law, insurance coverage and civil and appellate litigation. Mr. Everton has participated in the briefing or argument of over one hundred civil appeals in Maryland, Delaware, the District of Columbia, and the Third and Fourth United States Circuit Courts of Appeal.

Steffany Bender and Robin Hauptmann were promoted to the position of member in 2010. Ms. Bender, who is a member of the Maryland bar, concentrates her practice on the defense of medical malpractice and general civil litigation claims. She also handles guardianship matters. Ms. Hauptmann’s practice is focused on workers’ compensation and general civil litigation matters in the Maryland and D.C. courts.

Associates Joseph Johnson and Christian Kintigh complete this group of experienced and versatile practitioners. Mr. Johnston, a 2007 graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law, practices in the areas of medical malpractice and general civil litigation. Mr. Kintigh, the newest addition to the firm, is a 2010 graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law and practices in all areas of civil litigation and health care law.
